Carol's sister , Melinda, would have more information but Carol was well one minute and gone practically the next. She passed away on July 12th, 2005, just before our 40th reunion. I believe it was cancer-related and her husband is fighting something similar right now. Carol had done so many fun things---she was a chimney sweep out on the west coast for awhile. I remember her free spirit most of all, even when she was young.

Below is Melinda's wonderful tribute-wow!

I am writing this for my sister, Julia Carol Bramlett Jones.  She passed away on July 12, 2005, from complications from Ovarian Cancer.  She lived in Tacoma, WA, with her husband, Richard Preston Jones, and their Doberman, "The Swift Camilla".  Carol had 4 step-children, and 2 grandchildren.

Carol spent quite a few years living in Anchorage, Alaska where she did some local art work and traveled some to participate in art shows.  She became known for her beautiful batiks and trapunta; and won prizes for some of them.  One exhibition in particular was the Beverly Hills art show in California where she earned first prize for her work.

Carol and Rick both loved nature and animals.  They helped get funds from the county for a local dog part in lakewood, where they lived.  Rick was a professor of poetry and literature at Pacific Lutheran University until retiring in 2005.

She is greatly missed by her family and friends.  She made friends easily and kept them.

Just want to add that Rick Jones, Carol's husband, passed away on Sept., 28, 2010.  We loved Rick very much and will surely miss him very much.  I know they are together again!

I miss Carol. Most of all I am sad that we had just gotten back in touch with each other just before she passed away. We had found each other and were writing, catching up on "old times" and filling in the missing parts of our adult lives. Owen, her brother, and I were friends also. Owen played in the band "The Tempters" and we would have practice at their house.

Carol and I watched the first American appearance of the Beatles together. She loved the Beatles and was one of those gals who would scream at them when they sang. If I recall she was suppose to be at some church function but fibbed and skipped it so she could see the Beatles. She was full of smiles and happiness. She was fun loving and had a wonderful sense of humor. There was a time when we were close but as with many young lives we had to go in different directions.

I regret we did not have more time to fill in all the blanks in our lives. I can say that even after all these years I have never forgotten the times we had together. I can still see that smile on her face as she walked down the hall at Talawanda, holding her books in both hands in front of her. She was a good lady and is not forgotten.
