You know, i have been thinking about Ozz ever since this Classmates post started and I really do not know where to start.  I met David in 5th or 6th grade. Can't remember exactly but my Aunt Alice was the hostess at the Huddle and I would go there sometimes for lunch.

After that I think no, i know, Becky Brickles took it upon herself to get the McGuffey and Stewart classmates together. There ewas David, John Schumacher,Dave Chrisman, Mark Erickson and a whole bunch of others that I started to hang with.  Consolo, Hoelle.

I really can't remember how we got so tied together but am so glad.  It blossomed forever after that.

I remember walking into the BoarsHead one day and he pointed out this girl who was behind the bar and he said to me that that was the girl he was going to marry. And he did and they had 2 wonderful girls, Lara and Erica.

Ozzies taking in people who were down on their luck or just wanted someplace to stay(and some stayed to long).  Going on road trips together to fish or to look at an old MG that he wound up buying.  Little picnics with family together.  Burnig up a grille(brand new) because we put to much gasmon the coals.

This could go on for a long time.  Remembering all the times would probably burn out any brain cells that I have left.

But I do know that he would love what we are doing together as classmates and would want us to keep going.  Which we will.

I think about you often,David, and I miss you alot.

I didn't actually get to know David very well until our THS years together. I do recall playing basketball against Ozzie and Tom Whitelaw in junior high school. They, and the Stewart guys, were tough on us "ol' cornfield boys" from Hanover...... In fact, I vividly recall Ozzie's game-winning, last second shot in our 8th grade game at McGuffey. I remember it so well because I was guarding him. Not very well apparently!

I always appreciated David's calm demeanor, upbeat personality and dry wit. He and Jack Bowers introduced me to beer drinking just prior to graduation in 1965. I drank 2 and became sick as a dog! Ah, those momentous rites of passage ........

Rest well, friend.

I have 2 memories of David that stand out.

The first was riding ON the console of Kenny Dean's new , dark green 409 between Kenny and David.

And the second is Beth Todd Jones, Ozzie and myself putting heads together to have a Christmas Townie Nite---35 people the first year, 70 people the second year, and Bless my mom, she put it in the Oxford Press the next year and Ozzie had well over 1000 from then on. Gosh, those were great times!!!! David is in our hearts and minds as we plan every reunion---we love  ya!
